March 2010 Update
Well, its been awhile. We have been busy with the Bible Literacy Class on Sunday afternoons at Dixon. The class has been going through the book of John verse-by-verse. Each of the men are assigned a portion of the scripture. They are to study that for the week and present their findings at the meeting. It has been a blessing! Some started out a little fearful of speaking in front of a group, while others were quite at ease – having had a call in their life to preach or teach. But the amazing part is what has happened: Those who are at ease encouraged the others and those who once shied away from speaking are now stepping up willingly! They studied and prepared for it and, encouraged by the others, have been a blessing to all, including us!
We have also been showing the films from Crown called God Provides. This is a great study using video clips of Bible stories regarding how God has provided and brining it into present day life, with questions and discussions.
Larry is in the middle of a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class with the men on Thursday mornings. More signed up than could be accommodated and so he will be doing another class in the Fall. We hope to continue this class on at least a twice a year basis. This will help the men now and certainly when they are released. After taking the class once, they can retake it again, without charge, in a church of their choice who is having the study.
Continue praying for us. We are hoping to get another study started in Pontiac and maybe in Stateville.
