Pontiac visit for May

Pontiac Correctional Center   Stan and Sharon were the only two from this area that were able to attend the monthly cell-by-cell visits.  There were 10 additional volunteers from other areas.  It was a great day, the weather was beautiful, the officers were pleasant and helpful, and the residents were very receptive to the Word of God —  all went very well.  We were on the East Gallery by 9:45 am. After lunch we all went to West Gallery and were able to stay until 2:30.  There was at least 1 decision for Christ, and many other seeds planted.  It is always difficult to leave the gallery when we know there is such a need and desire for discipling.  However, Phil, and others from various areas go on different dates to do rounds, so the Word reaches them throughout the month.

Activity recap for April 2008

Dixon Correctional Center  This month the Bible Literacy Class on Sunday afternoon at Dixon is continuing the study of 30 Life Principles.  It is going very well.  We have had a lot of discussion by the class as they apply these principles to their own lives.

Thursday afternoons we started “God’s Way of Handling Money” with 11 in attendance.  As I expressed before, we were a little apprehensive because the majority of these men will be in for life.  We wondered if the study was applicable to their needs.  However, God’s principles apply to every aspect of live and God knows who needs what – so we put it in God’s hands and the study is going extremely well.

The PFM monthly cell-by-cell visit was on April 26.  This was an exciting day, and we left there knowing that God was reaching into the hearts of many in North house and South PC.

Phil was able to join a group conducting a seminar at Sheridan Correctional Center on April 26.  I am hoping to hear more from him soon about this and we will share it here with you.

Continue to pray for our volunteers on the outside – the ones who take care of all the cards and correspondence – and prayer requests.  A lot of work, love and committment goes into all of these very needed ministries.

Pontiac cell by cell

What an awesome day at Pontiac with Prison Fellowship!! Two from CLCPP went down, and there were 12 others from other churches – 14 of us in all.   I’m convinced the power of prayer at our Friday night meeting opened hearts of many that otherwise would not have been open to the message of  Jesus Christ.  While I do not know of any direct salvations, many hearts were touched.  The men had questions that showed a true seeking attitude.  Some started out saying they were not interested and ended up asking for more information.  We were able to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to many in North House ( a more segregated area) and South PC which is a little more lenient area.  The next Pontiac visit is on March 22.  Please pray for us!
